Perfect Police 105 Poster!

Hey, readers!

If you didn't see my last blog post about my SPCA poster you should check that out,  I decided to create another poster but this time it is about Police 105. If you are not sure what Police 105 is it a number that you call when it's not an emergency. Here is my poster!

We had to make it colourful so that if you saw it out on the streets it would stand out, I used reds and blues because that's the basic police colours.

Have you heard about Police 105?

Until next time!

Spectacular Spca Poster!

Hey, readers!

In inquiry, we had to create a poster about one of the many organisation we looked at. Me and my friend Daisy (Go check out her blog) chose to look at the SPCA. We had to use bright colours and large fonts, to make it stand out.

If you don´t know the SPCA rescue all types of animals that were abused or can not be looked after anymore. We included information and their phone number so that anybody that sees our poster can contact them in case they know of an animal in danger. Here is our poster.

Sensational Samoan Alphabet

Hi reader!!

On Wednesday we have been looking at the Samoan language and one of the tasks was making an animation about the Samoan alphabet. The Samoan alphabet is a little bit different, there are only 17 letters unlike the English alphabet with 26 letters.

I hope you enjoyed learning the Samoan alphabet.
Do you know a second language ??

Until next time, bye!!

10 Ways To Have An Amazing Conversation!

Hi Readers!!

In the inquiry, we have been learning about Connecting with others and we learnt how to have a better conversation using these tips.
1. Don’t multitask- be present- be in the moment
2. Don’t pontificate - (that means don’t be pompous or dogmatic)
3.use open-ended questions
4. Go with the flow- let your thoughts come in and go out- don’t get stuck on thinking about what you want to say
5. If you don’t know- say you don’t know!6. Don’t equate your experiences with theirs
7. Don’t repeat yourself
8. Stay out of the weeds- don’t get hung up on the details
9. LISTEN   “If your mouth is open, you are not listening” Buddha
10. Be brief

In my slide, Susan and Ryan will be using these tips to help improve their conversation.
Do you think you would use any of these tips in your conversations?

Dazzling Data

Hello readers!!

This week in Gilstrom numeracy we have been making questions and data-based around a sport. I chose netball and I'm focusing on the finance side of things.

I have never played netball, so it was hard to find a focus, that wasn't to do with the actual sport.
Here is my spreadsheet with my questions.

You can see that it more finance and not to do with the actual sport. Have you ever played netball?

My Family Tree

Hello readers

On Friday after kapa haka, we are learning about cultures and are identity. We had to talk to our families about our culture as homework. I ask my family some question and figured out my family tree

We also made a family tree, as you can see we are mostly from New Zealand but there are some different countries because of my aunts and uncle married people from other countries.

Have you ever made a family tree?

What does waste mean to me?

Hello readers,
In Gilstrom literacy, we had to write what waste means to us and describe it in 3 short paragraphs.

What does waste mean to me, waste means many things, such as waste of time, money, abilities, substances. To you, waste could be one or more of those many different things, but to me, it means a waste of substances.

Cambridge dictionary defines Waste as the  "unnecessary or wrong use of moneysubstancestimeenergyabilities, etc"  Waste to me means, used or worthless materials going to landfill and creating pollution when it could be used for another purpose such as milk bottles been thrown away when it could be used as a simple cheap watering can.

In conclusion, waste can mean many different things to everybody. I believe we should start to make a change on how much waste goes to landfills when it could be used for other purposes.

What does waste mean to you??

Personality Portrait

Kia ora readers!

At the start of this term, we had to make a portrait showing our interest and culture. We based our portraits of Romero Britto portraits his work is a bit abstract and cartoonish, here is some of his work.

As you can see they are a bit abstract. Now here is my drawing, I tried to use bright colours to make my portrait stand out.
It has some of my culture, like the New Zealand flag and some ferns to symbolise my culture, and has my interest such as watching Netflix hanging out with my family, gardening and doing art.

Have you done any art this year?
