We have been making Southern lights art, and that means we had to learn about them. A few things I learnt were, the southern lights are also called aurora australis and that the southern lights are caused when particles come off the sun and some make it through the earth magnetic force and it excites the oxygen and nitrogen creating the amazing northern and southern lights. The lights come in all sorts of colours like, green, red and blue, the lights are unpredictable. Here is my piece of art compared to the real southern lights.
To make the art we firstly had to rip up a piece of scrap paper to look like a mountain range, then taped it down to the bottom of the black paper. After that, we had to make the stars so we had some white paint and a paintbrush and flicked the paint on to the paper. Lastly, we drew on the white piece of paper with chalk pastels to get the dust then smudge it to look the lights, after that, we add the matariki stars and removed the white paper and done!
I think I did a good job at it, and I am happy with the finished product.
Would you try to do this art?
Bye!
